Structure: The Seniors will be structured differently from the Juniors. Beyond just focusing on player development, the program will provide players with increased soccer opportunities outside of Montana. Teams will attend showcase events throughout the West in an effort to increase their exposure to college coaches and chances to play beyond youth soccer, all alongside the best players from Montana.
Placement: Players will be notified if they made the final team after the Tryout Events are complete.
The Junior Academy Tryout Events are scheduled for July 25th and August 29th. Both Events will be held in Helena.
MDP coaches will evaluate each participating player based on a variety of on-field areas. At the conclusion of tryouts, players will be placed on either the State Team or Open Team for their age group based on their evaluation(s). No players will be cut from the program.
The Senior Academy Tryout Event is scheduled for August 8th in Helena.
At the conclusion of tryouts, players will be selected to participate on the final Senior Academy Team for each age group. Not all players are guaranteed a spot on the team, which will be based on their evaluation(s).
MDP consists of two (2) regions. The state is split between the East region and the West region. These regions only apply to the Junior Academy.
The East will consist of Billings, Bozeman and Butte, as well as the surrounding areas to these communities.
The West will consist of Kalispell, Missoula, Helena and Great Falls, as well as the surrounding areas to these communities.
Open teams and State teams will each train once a month. Training will begin in late August and conclude in March. The Event schedule for MDP Juniors will primarily consist of the same events as previous seasons, with some changes possible.
The MDP Senior Academy schedule will not start until the conclusion of the high school soccer season. Training will begin in early November, and on average, the MDP Seniors will train once a month through March. Between December and February, and depending on the availability of each Senior team, MDP will aim to send teams to one out-of-state event (at most) each month.
